A 3D instruction tool to build a impressive plane out of wooden sticks and paper!

Aéro Montréal’s Passion for Flight challenge offers students the chance to build their own glider by following a 3D building and assembly guide, available on both computers and tablets. The 3D viewer makes it possible to zoom, turn, and move the glider in different directions, in order to observe it from every angle. The step-by-step building and assembly instructions include detailed descriptions and photos.

The teacher guide accompanying the Passion for Flight activity is directed at secondary cycle one science and technology classes. The tasks suggested by the guide are:

• building the glider according to the instructions provided by the manufacturing process sheet;
• measuring the glider’s performance;
• designing and integrating modifications to the glider in order to increase its performance.

Passion for Flight is also a quest in Game for Science, in which the student must answer various questions about aerospace. Each right answer earns the student an object that he can display in his virtual museum, proving his growing passion for flight!

The island of GENOMIA has been hit by a strange disease that threatens the survival of its inhabitants, a population of garden gnomes.
Players embark on an interactive quest to find the cause of this strange disease. With the help of gnomes who are experts in genomics, players must collect skin samples to extract DNA, carry out lab tests, and use their powers of deduction to find a cure.

The ancestral tree has taken one of the Whippersnapper brothers hostage. Why? None of the gnomes have figured it out entirely. However, we know that the four brothers are conducting research on tree genes. They aim to unlock the keys to stronger, faster growing trees.

Gnomes and humans have great need for their science and their discoveries. Students will use logic and cunning to help the Whippersnapper brothers while discovering biotechnology careers and professions.

A few decades ago, a strange colony of frogs threatened by pollution, global warming and habitat destruction went looking for somewhere to escape impending extinction.

They found just the place in the huge world of GAME FOR SCIENCE, on the Island of RANA in the ENVIRONIUM Archipelago, where the inhabitants are very serious about respecting the environment. In this quest game, an environmental disaster has occurred, much to the horror of the Ranans. Players must identify the nature and extent of the damage and remedy the situation.

M.A.R.S. Mars Academy of Science and Research

Rachel the android and the bumbling robot Decobob accompany players in discovering unusual aspects of certain professions in the context of a space mission. Players must supervise by turns the physical training of an astronaut (nurse), remotely operate a rover (robotics expert), analyze rocks to detect the presence of water (geologist), run a space greenhouse (biologist), and ensure a space station’s automated systems are functioning properly (environmental systems engineer). Rachel and Decobob guide and encourage players as they learn.
